The First Round of the Belt & Road

Industrial & Commercial Conference

“Egypt… Your Gateway to BRICA”

1-2 April 2017

Background

The One Belt, One Road initiative announced by Chinese President Xi Jinping in September 2013, is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most important projects proposed in the history of humanity.

China’s Belt and Road Initiative is a visionary, long-term plan designed to boost economic, trade, cultural and people-to-people ties between the Chinese Mainland and more than 65 countries spanning three continents, from Asia to Europe via Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, West Asia and the Middle East. The “Belt” and “Road” refer to the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

The “Belt & Road Initiative” inherits and promotes the ancient Silk Road Spirit of “peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit” while exploring and practicing the concept of win-win cooperation.

Scope and Rationale of the Conference

On the occasion of the Founding Ceremony for the establishment of the Belt & Road Industrial and Commercial Alliance (BRICA) on June 16th, 2016, in Beijing; we as Egyptian Businessmen’s Association (EBA), have proposed the idea of hosting a high level business conference for BRICA in Egypt, hopefully initiating a series of annual meetings by member countries who have already joined the BRICA alliance.

The forum will be considered as a networking platform connecting project owners & operators, investors and services providers from related business sectors, which helps participants to build new connections and discuss collaborations with potential partners of related businesses.

Industrial and commercial associations in relevant countries will with no doubt seize this historical opportunity, to develop an innovative way for cooperation, and play a crucial and distinctive role in advancing the implementation of the “Belt & Road Initiative” and promoting win-win cooperation among each other.

We welcome more fellow industrial and commercial associations to join us in the efforts to integrate collective resources and leverage collaborative advantages for the establishment of an interactive mechanism aimed at achieving communication, cooperation and integration of broader scale, higher level and greater depth.

We are convinced that the establishment of BRICA not only conforms to the current trend of the times but also meets the development needs of BRICA members, and will therefore usher in a brand new era of cooperation among the world’s industrial and commercial associations.
